Books read since 1 Oct:

Thud!, Terry Pratchett (2005)

plus a few hundred pages of
Secrets & Lies, Bruce Schneier
Rats and Gargoyles, Mary Gentle
Excession, Iain M. Banks
Now Wait For Last Year, Philip K. Dick

2006 total books read: 37, a stack of 77.3 cm. I'm usually up around 50 by now. I've been getting to bed late, and only managing 20 pages or so before falling asleep at the page.

Walking home, I saw a lady looking cold, a bicyle attached to a railing, and a man with a hacksaw making a racket as he tried to cut through the cycle lock. He hadn't got very far, through the plastic coating but that's about it. A police car drove past, and a copper yelled out "Bit conspicuous, aren't you, mate?"

In other news (because there is always other news, and I am not mistress of the elegant segue, though I wouldn't mind being mistress of the elegant Segway), it's too darn cold and I'm putting the heating on. I might cheat tomorrow and go work in the library. I wonder how busy it is on weekends? And I wonder how many of the journal URLs I saved will give me access from outside the University?
